Sidewalks please....Learn to drive

I am sick and tired of the speeders in my neighborhood.  They just paved the streets and now people think that gives them the right to go even faster.

The buses do not come thru our neighborhood.  So my kids are supposed to walk almost one  mile to school.  One of the sad parts of this is that we have NO street lights for when it is still dark in the morning and NO sidewalks.  The streets barely allow two cars to drive by.  So how can a speeding car see children walking down the street in the dark on a narrow road with all of the hills and turns throughout the neighborhood?

The state police are the only people that can protect the neighborhood too.  The city police can't because the neighborhood made itself it's own village.  So no one patrols our streets for speeders.  I mean what is it going to take to protect my children from these idiots?

I have to drive my kids to and from school each and every day.  They all go at different times too.  So my day is busy driving them around.  Just imagine when there is snow on the ground as there often is here in Chicago and they don't fully plow the streets.  Are my kids supposed to walk in the deep snow so they don't get ran over by the people that think they are too good for everything?

What is funny is that my husband and I were talking to a lady in the neighborhood because she was having a garage sale and we mentioned to her about the crazy drivers.  She said she can't stand it and that when she see's someone speeding she will slow down and go super slow on purpose.  But her son high school son drives a sports car and speeds all of the time and just about hits my husband on his motorcycle.   She told me that just a few years ago they finally put in stop signs.  But who is here to make sure that everyone is going the speed limit?  NO ONE!
